#TCBF was Awesome; Twitter Deleted!
Hey folks,
Yesterday I concluded the Haunting Melody book tour by tabling at the Twin Cities Book Festival. I am AMAZED by how many people attended the fest! I didn’t even get a chance to get up and eat lunch yesterday; I was just busy the entire time!
I brought three boxes of books and a crate in total to the event and left with just one box of books and a crate. That’s WILD!!! I sold SO many books, the most that I’ve ever sold at a single event. Can’t wait to attend next year! And what a way to finish this month of celebration for Haunting Melody!
Another thing that I wanted to announce on here is that I’ve deleted/deactivated my Twitter account. My username on there was @chloespencerdev, so if someone else takes that username, it’s not me, and you should report the account.
I’ve done this for a few reasons, which I’ve elaborated on Instagram. As I take the time to write more, I have less time to spend on social media, which means I have to be strategic about where I spend my time—and that means picking the sites with the highest engagement. Before the takeover, I used to have SO much traction on Twitter. I could log in maybe once a week or every couple of days and make a post or two, but this past year, Haunting Melody’s announcement posts, as well as others, have barely gotten 15 likes. I mentioned that the tweet that got the most likes was Silk’s cancellation—which isn’t ideal. On top of that, Twitter announced that it’s changing how their block function works. People that I’ve blocked (mostly advertisers, but still!) will be able to see my tweets. This is a terribly unsafe Internet practice, and kinda gave me the final excuse I needed to close the account for good.
So, I’ve deactivated my Twitter account as of today. One cool thing is now all my active social media profiles have the same username, which is @heyitschloespencer. I’m still workshopping alternatives or backups to Twitter, but I do have an active Bluesky account which you can follow below.
I’m also considering moving onto Threads, but I’m still thinking about it! I’ve got pretty divided opinions on the platform. And on top of that, I’d like to take a brief social media break before I get into promoting my next release. So we’ll see!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by at my table at TCBF, or visited one of the events on Haunting Melody’s tour. This was so much fun!
